The staff was very nice and helpful. I believe they do the best with what they have to work with.
The facility had challenging steps to climb that I was not aware of-no elevator. We were travelling with a person who had some physical limitations so this was difficult for him. (We are so gratefull to the gentleman-hotel clerk who carried all our bags for us!) The windows had no screens so we had mosquitos in our room-and several bites. There was no air conditioning and it was quite warm at night and then you have to contend with the noise. It was not a relaxing stay-just a means to an end while in Venice. I also felt the beds were hard as were the pillows. Breakfast was not included. Every other hotel we stayed in offered a nice Italian style breakfast. They had a nice courtyard area to serve. If not perhaps a voucher for local patisseri
Close stop water taxi at Grandcanal, historical old building in narrow streets / but probably no everyone appreciate it /, excelent room at third floor with balcony and view on the roofs. Hotel didnt provide breakfast, but we bought it close hotel in confectionery together with another italians.
We booked two triple rooms, but second had windows directly against wall and wasnt as good as first. But it is possible use common balcony at third floor.
The hotel placement was very good. The staff was helpfull with informations regarding the city. Rooms are kept clean.
The hotel is extremely noisy. Our room was separated from the next one by a door( which was closed) but we could hear very well people talking normally from the next rooms and above. Walking in the room causes the furniture to shake which also makes noise. The hotel management has changed and so no breakfast or kitchen facilities are available( there were some customer comments indicating that these were available). The room is much more smaller than in the pictures shown on Booked.net and it seems to look worse than on the pictures.
The main room was nice, and once found, it was in a nice location.
The bathroom was very unfriendly: severe step hazard; the shower head was ready to fall off and the shower base was hazardous. Also, there was a sitting area to the hotel that was locked during the morning, preventing our enjoyment of it.
We loved everything! Maria at the front desk was amazing and so lovely- she spoke fluent English and gave us a map with great tips about where to go and what to see. They were very accommodating when we arrived early, gave us coffee and even a little Murano glass gift. The room was really nice and quite spatious and comfortable. The bathroom was nice too. The location was perfect and we couldn't ask for more. Al Portico is situated close enough from the train station to walk easily and also in a great busy area. Outside our door was a canal, shops and bustling streets to wander. We loved this place and would definitely come back again. Great value for money.
The best part of Al Portico is friendly and very helpful staff. Location is good - close to train station and bus stop to the airport. Many restaurants and bars nearby. Room was clean, with very basic equipment. Internet available but not very fast.
It's extremely difficult to find it. Entrance to the Guest House is not pleasant - it's hidden on the side smelly street :( Rooms are clean but bit 'oldish', no tv. It's good deal for not very demanding travelers.
Excellent staff, especially the nice spanish lady!
Very basic, in quiet area, but no isolation so you hear every move in the building
Excellent Staff on arrival- Marina; Convenient location; Excellent air conditioning.
The young lady at the front desk was very helpful with information on Venice (places to go and how to get there). We had a problems with ants in the bathroom (which is the only down side of our stay).
The window over-looking the canal was lovely. Great location.
The lovely window over the canal in the morning was loud because of recycling workers on the canal and the shower, though cute, was tiny.
We really Enjoyed the stay in Al Portico Guest House, perfect location, clean rooms.
Only the price
no lift. very small washroom. bad smell near the hotel door.
The staff are most friendly and helpful. As the guest house is somewhat hidden, the staff is so kind to meet us & bring us there late at night. Once you get familiar with the place, it's actually very central and convienent to go anywhere with shops, restaurant and market close by. The room is very basic & wifi is on&off, not good!
First impression was good, though the next day we found ants all over the place... We stayed two nights and the room was cleaned only superficially, meaning ants stayed.
It was clean, calm , not so big, very "homely".with nice private court. Staff was perfect, very kind. !!! It was real Venice.
Difficult to find hotel, but if you find teatro italia - hotel on the opposite site of street.
